Jimmy Sebring

Dear Folks: Make a point somewhere on your website that the first baseball player to hit a World Series home run was Jimmy Sebring, who was born in Liberty, PA. He did it in the opening game of the 1903 World Series. Just thought you'd like to know if you do not already. - Ed Luteran

I will mark your site and then locate a photo / articles on Jimmy Sebring. Jimmy Sebring is my husband's paternal Great-grandfather. Jimmy Sebring had one child, a daughter named Mary Elizabeth Sebring, with his wife Lizzie Milnor, known to us as "Gaga" Lizzie or Grandma Lizzie. Lizzie Milnor's father was the sheriff at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Lizzie became a widow when Jimmy died at the young age 27 of Brite's kidney disease. Lizzie eventually moved west with their daughter, Mary, to Beverly Hills, California. Lizzie owned shops in the Beverly Hills Hotel and in Tijuana, Mexico and Hawaii. The family really lost contact with the Sebring side at this point. Lizzie never remarried. Their only daughter, Mary Elizabeth Sebring, had two children; one being my father-in-law, Michael Milnor Douglas. My husband, James Douglas, was born 53 years after Jimmy's death at Williamsport, Pa. on Dec 22, 1909. Their small family has never been much into historical info, roots, or geneology. We do have scrapbooks with articles and photos though. I will check to see what could be forwarded for use as your site is the only one I have ever seen on old Liberty, Pa. - Jerianne Douglas
